YOUR AUTISM JOURNEY
Our patient journey has been carefully designed to provide a comprehensive, step-by-step approach to diagnosing, treating, and supporting individuals with Autism.
STEP 1
BOOK IN FOR AN ASSESSMENT
To discuss your Adult Autism assessment, please get in touch with our clinic via telephone or email. You can also book your Autism assessment by clicking here.
STEP 2
INITIAL SCREENING
You will complete rating scales and questionnaires to evaluate your Autism symptoms and their impact. An assessment fee will be charged only if you pass this initial screening.
STEP 3
PRELIMINARY PAPERWORK
Before your Autism assessment, we will require you to complete our pre-assessment paperwork, which we will send to you once your payment has been received. This paperwork must be completed by you and an informant. It includes a series of questionnaires that delve into your medical history, sleep patterns, mood, substance use, and current observations, such as blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight. Completing this stage ensures that we have a comprehensive understanding of your needs and circumstances.
STEP 4
THE AUTISM VIRTUAL CLINICAL ASSESSMENT
A specialist Autism clinician will conduct a comprehensive assessment via video conference, lasting between 60 to 90 minutes. This assessment will cover a range of topics, including symptom onset, impact, developmental history, educational background, family history, and other relevant factors.
You will receive the video link via email. At the time of your appointment, simply click the link to connect with your clinician.
STEP 5
THE AUTISM VIRTUAL OBSERVATIONAL ASSESSMENT
A specialist Autism clinician will observe how you communicate, interact socially, and behave in various situations. These observations help determine whether someone might be on the Autism spectrum. It’s a bit like a structured way of watching and understanding how a person acts and reacts in specific settings to better understand their social and communication skills.
STEP 6
FEEDBACK CALL
The feedback call involves a telephone or video conversation in which your clinician will inform you whether you have been diagnosed with Autism. Additionally, they will explain what the diagnosis means, discuss your strengths and challenges, and make personalised recommendations for interventions and support tailored to your specific needs.
STEP 7
RECEIVE YOUR REPORT
Within 7 working days of your Autism feedback appointment, you will receive a written report via email. This report will include the clinical diagnosis and, if applicable, a proposed treatment plan.
