Why choose a private ADHD assessment for adults?

Waiting times for NHS ADHD assessments can often stretch from months to years. By choosing a private ADHD assessment for adults, you can:

What’s included in a private adult ADHD assessment?

01

Initial screening

You’ll complete rating scales and questionnaires to evaluate ADHD symptoms and their impact. An assessment fee is charged only if you pass this initial screening.
02

Additional background information

Additional details may be gathered from family members or partners to gain a complete understanding of your symptoms.

03

Clinical interview

A specialist ADHD clinician will conduct a thorough assessment face-to-face or via video conference, lasting between 90 and 120 minutes. This will cover symptom onset, impact, developmental history, educational background, family history, and other relevant factors.

04

Psychological testing

Psychological testing may be recommended to assess cognitive functioning, attention, and related factors. This might include a QB check, which incurs additional fees.
05

Diagnostic decision

Based on the gathered information, a diagnostic decision will be made according to the criteria from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). This will be done at separate feedback appointment.
06

Receive your report

Within 7 working days of your ADHD feedback appointment, you will receive a written report by email. This report will include the clinical diagnosis and, if applicable, a proposed treatment plan.

I cannot recommend this Neuroaffinity enough! My 7-year-old nephew is autistic and has mild ADHD, and this clinic has been a blessing for him and his young parents family. From the very first visit, the staff was warm, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. They took time to understand his unique needs and created a personalised plan that helped with communication, sensory regulation, social skills, focus, and emotional regulation helping him to build the skills he needed. The therapists were amazing with him, and they also gave our family practical strategies to use at home. we’ve seen major improvements in his ability to communicate, handle transitions, calm down, and connect with others. He’s happier, more confident, and making progress we are so grateful for. Thank you to all the staff for everything! Highly recommend Neuroaffinity to any parent or caregiver.

I was really happy with the professionalism shown by Neuroaffinity, specifically Shehzad. As parents we are always nervous and apprehensive but Shehzad put us at ease and took his time to answer all our questions, and dealt with our child remarkably well. Thank you!

I recently got my ADHD diagnosis and just at the end of my titration now. The team at Neuroaffinity has been fantastic, I was in somewhat of a rush as I had my a levels on this year and so I needed to have the diagnosis and initial titration appointment as soon as possible. They were great in facilitating this and beyond that in every area. Would certainly recommend their services!

Is adult ADHD affecting your life?

ADHD can impact adults in many ways.

If this sounds familiar, a professional ADHD assessment can provide the answers and guidance you need. Or, start with our quick and free ADHD test right here.

Please note: In complex cases, the clinician may require additional information or a second opinion from our Consultant Psychiatrist. This may delay your final report.

Frequently asked questions

If you’re experiencing persistent issues with focus, organisation, impulsivity, or emotional regulation that affect your work, relationships, or daily life, it may be worth exploring an ADHD assessment. Many adults are only diagnosed later in life after recognising long-standing symptoms.
Your assessment will include an initial screening, a detailed clinical interview, optional cognitive testing, and a final diagnostic report. Our specialist will explore your symptom history, daily impact, and developmental background to determine whether you meet the criteria for ADHD.
Yes. We offer secure online ADHD assessments for adults across the UK. These are conducted via encrypted video consultation and follow the same process and diagnostic criteria as our in-person assessments.

If your symptoms meet the criteria for ADHD based on DSM-5 guidelines, you will receive a formal diagnosis. This will be included in your written report, which can be used for workplace or academic accommodations and to inform ADHD treatment options.

Your written diagnostic report is typically delivered within 7 working days of your feedback appointment. In some complex cases, your clinician may request additional information or input from a Consultant Psychiatrist, which may extend the timeline slightly.

Medication is not included as part of the assessment itself. However, if a diagnosis is confirmed, you can book follow-up medication review appointments with your clinician to discuss appropriate treatment options, including prescriptions where suitable.
