Private ADHD assessment for children

Private ADHD assessments for children, helping families gain clear answers, expert guidance and the right support for their child’s future.

Private ADHD assessment for children in the UK

At Neuroaffinity, we offer fast and extensive private ADHD assessments for children across the UK.

If you’re concerned your child may have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), our expert clinicians can provide clarity, guidance, and support every step of the way.

Why choose a private ADHD assessment for your child?

The NHS pathway for child ADHD assessments is often lengthy, with waiting times that can stretch from several months to even years. Choosing a private ADHD assessment for your child offers a much faster route to diagnosis, allowing you to access early support, personalised interventions, and the guidance needed to help your child thrive.
01

Initial screening

You’ll complete standardised parent and teacher questionnaires and review of your child’s developmental background and medical history. An assessment fee is charged only if you pass this initial screening.
02

Additional background information

Additional details may be gathered from family members or partners to gain a complete understanding of your symptoms.
03

Clinical interview

A specialist ADHD clinician will conduct a thorough assessment face to face or via video conference, lasting between 90 to 120 minutes. This will cover symptom onset, impact, developmental history, educational background, family history, and other relevant factors.
04

Psychological testing

Psychological testing may be recommended to assess cognitive functioning, attention, and related factors. This might include a QB check, which incurs additional fees.
05

Diagnostic decision

Based on the gathered information, a diagnostic decision will be made according to the criteria from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). This will be done at separate feedback appointment.
06

Receive your report

Within 7 working days of your ADHD feedback appointment, you will receive a written report by email. This report will include the clinical diagnosis and, if applicable, a proposed treatment plan.

Child private ADHD assessment fees

Please note: that if the Specialist Clinician considers your case to be complex during the assessment, they may need additional information or seek advice from the Consultant Psychiatrist. This could potentially delay your report beyond the standard 7 working days.

Where do I start, I’ve had such a positive experience with Neuroaffinity, it can be hard to find support that genuinely understands your needs, but I felt listened to and understood from the start and the whole experience helped me gain a better understanding of myself and gave me more confidence. Honestly I’m really grateful for the support I received and would highly recommend this service to anyone looking for understanding, neurodivergent-friendly support. ❤️

We’re really pleased with the care and support we have received from Shehzad and his team. Everyone has been friendly, welcoming, and never made us feel rushed. The information and guidance provided throughout the process were very helpful and helped us better understand our daughter’s diagnosis. Shehzad took the time to answer our questions and make sense of the diagnosis. We felt listened to, supported, and treated with genuine care throughout. We’re very grateful for the service we received and would highly recommend them to other families seeking support.

I would gladly recommend this service. My son had been waiting 4 years for an assessment and we went back and forth with the GP. The assessment was easy to book and done smoothly with baring in mind the conditions of my child. Detailed questions and answers which have supported me in getting support for my child at school including a support plan. This assessment has also made my life easier when repeating details for my son of his conditions.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an ADHD assessment for my child with Neuro Affinity and had a very positive experience from start to finish. The team were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive throughout the process. They took the time to listen carefully, explain everything clearly, and made both myself and my child feel comfortable and understood. The assessment was thorough and conducted with great care and sensitivity. We left with a much clearer understanding of our child's needs and felt reassured by the guidance and support provided. As a parent, it was such a relief to feel heard and to have our concerns taken seriously. I would highly recommend Neuro Affinity to any family seeking an ADHD assessment or support. Thank you to the team for your kindness, professionalism, and dedication.

Frequently asked questions

If your child frequently struggles with attention, impulsivity, hyperactivity, or has difficulty with focus and behaviour at home or school, it may be worth exploring an ADHD assessment. Common signs include trouble following instructions, restlessness, emotional outbursts, and academic challenges.
We assess children typically from age 7 and up, as this is when consistent behavioural patterns become clearer and school-related concerns often emerge. If you’re unsure whether your child is the right age for assessment, our team can advise you during an initial consultation.
We offer both online and face-to-face ADHD assessments for children. Online assessments are conducted securely via video consultation and follow the same rigorous clinical standards as in-person appointments, offering flexibility and convenience for families.
Following the assessment, you’ll receive a feedback call with the results. If a diagnosis of ADHD is made, we provide a full written report along with recommendations for support. You’ll also have the option to schedule follow-up appointments, including medication reviews if appropriate.
The full process typically takes 2-4 weeks from booking to receiving your child’s diagnostic report. The assessment itself involves one comprehensive appointment, followed by a feedback call. This ensures you get timely answers and support without long NHS waiting times.

Yes, all our assessments are conducted by qualified clinicians following NICE guidelines. The written diagnostic report you receive can be used to support school-based interventions, educational support plans (such as EHCPs), and medical treatment decisions with your GP or paediatrician.
