What is Autism?

Autism is a neurodevelopmental difference in how a person perceives the world and the way they interact with others.

As it’s on a spectrum, not everyone will be impacted by autism in the same way. One person might find speaking to people in social settings particularly difficult, while another may not be bothered by this to the same extent.

In general, autism can include traits such as strong attention to detail, a preference for rigid routines, and specific interests or hobbies.

Why choose a private autism assessment near Loughborough?

At the moment, the NHS services in Loughborough are experiencing high levels of referrals for autism assessments, resulting in lengthy wait times for children and adults.

When you go private, you can skip the queue to get a faster, smoother diagnosis by doctors using the same NICE guidelines as NHS clinicians.

Our private autism assessments near Loughborough provide you with the following benefits:

Adult autism assessment near Loughborough

More than 1 in 100 people in the UK are autistic, meaning thousands of adults are living with the neurodevelopmental condition across the country.

When you’re living with undiagnosed autism, the traits can create difficulties at work and at home, leaving you unsure of why you feel the way you do. When you receive a diagnosis, you’re able to make sense of your behaviour, as well as gain access to bespoke support.

Our adult autism assessments near Loughborough give you the answers you’ve been looking for.

Child autism assessment near Loughborough

Autism is one of the most common childhood-onset neurodevelopmental conditions, according to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.

Adolescence can feel tricky at the best of times, but when a child is also experiencing undiagnosed autism, school life can feel even harder than it needs to. We don’t think that’s right or fair.

Our child autism assessment near Loughborough grants your child access to bespoke guidance to support them both in and out of school.

What’s included in an autism assessment near Loughborough?

We follow a six-step process to diagnose autism quickly and accurately. What’s more, we use the same DSM-5 and NICE guidelines as the NHS. Keep reading for what you can expect.

01

Initial screening

We’ll send you a questionnaire and a sliding scale test to help us understand how autism affects you. We only charge for our assessments if you progress past this stage with us.

02

Additional background information

With your permission, we’ll contact your loved ones to speak to them about how autism impacts you in your day-to-day life.
03

Clinical interview

With all the relevant background information collected, we’ll now invite you to an online or in-person interview. Don’t worry, as this is more of an informal chat for us to understand the challenges you face and a bit about your developmental history. Approximately 60-90 minutes.
04

Observational assessment

Seeing how autism impacts you in everyday situations helps us create a more in-depth diagnosis. As such, the next step is for us to see how you act during social interaction, as well as how you communicate. We use ADOS-2 tools for accuracy.
05

Diagnostic decision

After we’ve completed all our diagnostic tests, we’ll go away to assess the findings using DSM-5 criteria. Once we’ve got an answer, we’ll invite you back to discuss your diagnosis in person.
06

Receive your report

Once we’ve discussed your diagnosis in person, we’ll send you a follow-up email version within the next 7 days. You’ll receive documentation, a confirmation of your diagnosis, and recommendations on treatment plans (where applicable).
